Last week my friend Daksh Sharma asked me to have a look at a website www.Kindo.com.
It's a site for building your family tree and helps you to stay in touch with the family members.
I signed up and started to look around. I first added my Father's and Mother's name. Then I added my uncle's family details. The tree started to grow. It has a nice flash interface. You can zoom in and zoom out and move the tree in all the directions.
Each Member or Node (For those from Computer Science background :p) can have the following associated nodes.
- Brother: At the same level
- Sister: At the same level
- Partner: At the same level
- Son: One level below
- Daughter: One level below
Details like First Name, Last Name, Email, Gender and Date of Birth can be entered. A picture of the person can be uploaded, yeah a tree with pictures of family member will surely look good.
You can also invite the family members in your tree to join Kindo . Once others join they can also participate in building the tree with you.
Birthdays, Anniversaries, Broke up date, Address, Telephone, Aim, GTalk, Skype and MSN chat ids can also be saved for each family member. Nice feature.
One thing which I don't like is that any family member can delete any other family member in the tree. I think an approval should be sent to the creator of the node for making any changes. Otherwise this is a nice concept, all the family members at one place. I wish If there could be a possibility to print the family tree, which can be gifted to others.
