My first bicycle - Hero Hawk

Today I bought my first ever cycle. I have never had a cycle before. When I was kid I really wanted to have a bike but for some reason I never got it but today I bought it. Finally! It's a Hero Hawk Nu-Age and it got it for Rs 2750 along with the ring and lock. Its a racing type bike, black and Silver in color. I rode it for about 1 Kms and liked it a lot. The ride was smooth and the bike is quite fast as compared to ATB/MTB types.
I will now do more cycling and will share my reviews about the new bike! I am thinking of removing the mud guards and carrier for making it slightly light and it makes the bike look cool. The pump that comes with the bike is useless, you can just blow air in the baloons not tires.

Can I at least reduce the length of the mudguards? Currently I don't commute by cycle. I do cycling for exercise and pleasure. I can always attach them back :)

Dont remove the fenders and carrier!
Big mistake to remove the mudguards and carrier. The fenders will help protect your back when you ride thru puddles else you face reaching your office with a long line of dirt on your back!! not to mention you splashing on other ppl around you....The carrier is there for a purpose..to keep the load off your back! Very useful too. As a long time commuter by bike in Delhi, I can say that these are the 2 most imp things.
Also try and get some gears once you are comfortable with biking.
Good decision on the hero hawk...Its a sturdy companion on Indian roads, and fast too.
