Lunch at Indi joe

Today we went to Indi joe for lunch. Rishi and Sudharshan took me and all the interns who worked on the PMTool. It was their last day in office today, their internship ended today. It was a nice outing. We all left the office at around 1 PM and reached Indi joe in 10 mins. It was a nice restaurant, though the music was a bit loud and we were not able to listen to others properly but the food was good. I had lots of butter chicken and biryani.

I don't experiment much with food when I see chicken :)

I am not feeling very nice today, I have been working with the 6 interns for the past 6 months and it was really a nice experience working with all of them. It is tough to see them go. I know that we may never see each other again, that's how life goes.

After college I have met many people in my professional career and it is true that you do get attached with the people you work. You may not like them or you may not like the way they work but still you start missing them when they are no longer working with you. I don't know why it happens but I guess it is human nature.

You can't hold on to everything in life, you have to let go things.

Sitting on the cab floor

IMG0159A.jpg

When you sit on the back seat of the car where there is no leg space, no cooling, bumpy roads and bad driver then there is no option left but to sit on the floor. I don't care much about the dirt on my clothes, I can't sit at one place for more than 1.5 hours especially when you can't move and extend your legs. It is not good posture for the lower back. So today I sat on the floor. My cab member were laughing and making fun of me but I care more about my back.

Route Number 8 - Tyre Puncture

Our office cab arrived on time today. I thought today we will reach office on time for a change, but I was hoping too much. Front tyre got punctured in the middle of the Ridge Forest. Like always I was more than happy as I am never in hurry to reach office. We called couple of Taxi driver but none of them was available. I took a number of a Taxi stand in Chankya Puri and luckily we got two Indica.

We reached the office at around 10: 15 AM and the Cab charges were Rs1000

P.S. - I found a 1977 25p coin on the Ridge!

Typical day in office

These are the timestamps of my typical day in office

7:35 - Cab comes to pick me up. I sit at the back seat in the cab, with no leg space and poor back support, our ride to office is no less than a torture.

8:30 to 9:00 - We reach office. Other cabs also reach office during this period. BTW our official timings are 8:30 to 17:00

9:00 to 9:30 - Login to my machine. Check GMail, Check the status of my sites, Check the comments posted on my sites, Check the Server Logs etc etc.

9:30 to 10:00 - Time to visit the World Class Pantry in the basement with Nikhil. With nothing good to eat we normally end up with Tea and Samosas.

Almost everyone in our office have their Breakfast in the Office Pantry. Most of them get up early and don't get time to cook/eat in the morning. Nikhil and I discuss things about our office people and world class work that they are doing. It is a great opportunity for me to see so many Telecom Engineers at one place and when we are done with Samosas we go back to our seats.

10:00 to 10:30 - I reply to the mails, I reply to the comments on my sites.

10:30 to 10:45 - Nikhil and I again come back to Pantry to eat Namkeen or Biscuits.

10:45 to 11:00 - I go to the Roof and enjoy the fresh air. I try to go there daily and sit there for some time. It relaxes my mind.

11:00 - 12:30 - Daily I spent time and ask myself why I come to office? Why do they pay me salary? With no answers in mind I shamefully accept the circumstances.

12:30 - 13:30 - We head again to the Pantry, this time for Mid day meal that we call Lunch. After lunch we roam around and spend some time at our "Adda".

13:30 - 14:30 - Again I think of doing some work, check official mails and try to find some quality work for myself but all in vain.

14:30 - 15:00 - Time for coffee and roaming around in office.

15:00 - 17:00 - I go to Pantry and play TT. This is the best time in office. When I play good TT I feel good, when I play bad I feel bad. I wish I had this similar feeling for my work as well.

17:00 - Time to go back home.

18:15 - I reach back home.

I don't know for how long this will continue. I feel like a robot now and loosing my senses. My life has become like a pre-programmed code that is running in loops. Sometimes I do enjoy this but this is not the way life should proceed.

IRC from Office

Today I came across this site http://www.mibbit.com/ for login into IRC channels from your browser. It is great for people who don't have administrative rights on their Workstation or offices where IRC ports are blocked.

Just open the link http://www.mibbit.com/ in your browser, select the channel and you are in.

Try it.

Office on Saturday?

in

We had off yesterday due to Bandh in NCR but they have called us on Saturday. It is sick. How can they expect us to work on Saturday?

This is outrageous and I am not going to office tomorrow, I will stay at home and enjoy the weekend.
