teechers

I performed in the play called "teechers" on 25th Jan 2009. The event was Aikya, the alumni meet of DLDAV Shalimar Bagh, my school :)

It was great experience. I have never did acting in my life, though I always wanted to do something like this all my life. Now I am feeling so good that I have actually performed on stage! It all started when Shweta Singh (2002 batch) contacted me to perform a play in Aikya. I loved the idea of a play, especially when the play in all about school life and teacher.

The original play teecher was written by John Godber, but we wrote our own script. The play is all about group of XIIth student reminiscing the days they spent in school. There were 4 actors who performed this play. Those 4 actors perform 12 characters. The play started with a Pen day in school when one student say that he will never miss the school. The other 3 students take him back to the time they spent together and remembering the fun they had in school. The play has around 8 scenes and the play ends on a nostalgic note.

It was just amazing to take part in this play. One of the best thing I have ever done in life. In fact I also wrote couple of lines in the script. Shweta Singh (2002), Nikhil Singh (2004) and Sweachha (2008) are the other actors in the play. We used to practice in the Lawns of city center mall, shalimar bagh because we did not get permission to enter school after 7 pm. We all were available after 7 only. I was not supposed to take part in the play, I had to took part in the play because the other actors backed out at the last moment. We had already announced that there will be play in Aikya, there was no other option, I came forward and took part. Now I am so glad that I did. Shweta and Nikhil wrote a nice script. It was just about school life and how students interact to each other in school, gal talks, classroom masti, fighting and all.

On the event day we all dressed up in our school dresses. I must say that I love wearing my school dress. It brought back the old feelings and memories of my school life. I have come a long way, its been exactly 10 years since I passed out from school but it still feels like yesterday when I used to be in school.

School days are certainly the best days in my best life. I miss my school a lot. I am glad that we organized Aikya and formed a formal association. This will ensure that we will have Alumni meet every year and now we have our school alumni website too. I am now getting more interested in theater and thinking of doing some acting course :) seriously I think its a good break from my usual routine life. Lets see how things proceed. I have no intentions to become the next SRK but it is certainly a fun thing to do.
